Thank you to Paul and Terri Stashick for offering to display my work in their beautiful resort. With help from my good friend Pam and my husband Buddy, we hung 9 oil paintings and one small gouache within the clubhouse at the Divide Ranch and Club this morning!  What a difference a few pieces of colorful oil paintings can make on blank walls!  We're very pleased with how they look, and hoping that they are purchased this summer by our visitors. Here are a few snapshots we took today:

Since I last wrote, my husband's shoulder has healed enough for some progress in the woodshop! (you may recall that he had rotator cuff surgery in January, and has been in physical therapy throughout the weeks following it)  Buddy's been accumulating ideas and methods on the computer for months, and finally now he's enjoying the process himself!  He's been experimenting with different edges and finishes, and here are some of his first products!  We decided on a "rustic" look for these equestrian paintings, using a "surface burn", one of the many steps used in the technique originated in Japan in the 18th century called, "shou sugi ban". It involves charring a wood surface to render it a deep charcoal black. Buddy even had this clever "brand" made for his handiwork, which he will proudly stamp on the back of all his fancy frames! :)
